mpsWORKS has been serving the IT and printing needs of local Tampa non-profits for over 13 years. We are excited to see that Microsoft is continuing to find ways to help small non-profits better serve their communities by reducing some of the administrative costs of running the organization. Microsoft has recently announced that small non-profits (501 (c)(3) status and other eligibility requirements exist) can receive up to 10 free Microsoft 365 Business licenses to help non-profits reduce their operating costs and improve their technology platforms. Microsoft 365 Business gives your organization the licenses for both the online and installed desktop versions of the suite of Microsoft Office software products that your organization uses. Additionally, there is no added cost as well for your cloud-hosted Microsoft email exchange as your email server.
In 2020, Microsoft will no longer support Office 2010 or Windows 7 so many non-profits who have been putting off the capital expense of updating these software licenses can see the immediate benefit by taking advantage of Microsoft’s offer of 10 free licenses with a cost of $5 per license for those with more than 10 users. Not taking advantage of upgrading your systems and software creates risk for your non-profit because security features will not be patched, leaving your organization vulnerable to a cyber breach. In terms of security, the Microsoft 365 Business license provides the benefits of Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) which allows you to manage the security of your accounts, users, and devices by leveraging the features offered by Azure Active Directory.
Microsoft 365 Business offers Advanced Threat Protection which includes integrated security policies, reports and leading-edge tools to respond to threats. It also allows for Azure Multi-factor Authentication options that makes your networks even more secure. There are also options such as Office 365 Data Loss Prevention and device management.
If you are unsure of how your organization can make the switch to MS 365 Business and are looking for help from a local IT service provider, mpsWORKS can outline technology service solutions that work best for your organization.
